Day Hospital

The day hospital program is a special outpatient program for patients who do not require the 24-hour medical management of an inpatient program, but who still need intensive, multiple therapies each day. As another stepping stone in Siskin Hospital’s continuum of care, day hospital operates on a ‘work week’ schedule of therapy from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Individual schedules are designed to meet each patient’s needs, but generally participating at least three days per week. At the end of each day, patients return home where they are challenged to integrate their newly learned skills into their home setting.
The goals of the program are specific to each patient and injury, but overall are aimed at restoring, enhancing and supporting the patient’s maximum level of independence.
Patients are evaluated and treated by a team that, depending on the patient’s diagnosis, may include experts in the fields of speech-language pathology, clinical nutrition, psychology, vocational rehabilitation, case management, psychology, respiratory care, and physical, occupational and recreational therapies.
