Dr. David Bowers
Medical Director, Admitting Physician
Dr. Bowers is a graduate of Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN. He attended medical school at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, CA and completed his Internal Medicine Internship at Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Columbus, OH. He completed his residency at Ohio State University, where he specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and was also named chief resident.
Dr. Bowers is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as an Independent Medical Examiner and is also certified with the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He is a member of the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners, the American Association of Electromyography and Electrodiagnosis, the American Academy of PM&R, the American Medical Association, and the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Association.
Dr. Bowers was previously appointed as a Clinical Instructor of the PM&R Department at the University of Pennsylvania and is currently an Assistant Professor in the PM&R Department at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, Chattanooga Unit. In 1999 and 2000, Dr. Bowers was honored as Teacher of the Year at the University of Tennessee's College of Medicine, Chattanooga Unit. He is also a Board Member of the Chattanooga Area Brain Injury Support Group.
In addition to numerous medical abstracts, presentations and publications, Dr. Bowers has worked with an exchange program with the Institute of Spinal Cord Rehabilitation in Moscow, Russia. Since 1996, he has been an active staff member at Siskin Hospital, where he serves as the program director for Brain Injury and OP Services.
Dr. Bowers specializes in Spasticity Management and performs Botox(R) and Myobloc(R) Injections and ITB (Inthrathecal Baclofen) pump management. He is currently the Medical Director at Siskin Hospital.
Dr. Steven Musick
Admitting Physician
Dr. Musick is a graduate of David Lipscomb University in Nashville. He attended medical school at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dr. Musick interned at Park Lane Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri and completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas where he was also named chief resident.
Dr. Musick has previously worked with Siskin Hospital as the Director of Orthopedic Rehabilitation Program and as the co-director of the SubAcute Rehabilitation Unit.
He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is a Certified Independent Medical Examiner by the American Board of Medical Examiner
Dr. Brian Kalla
Admitting Physician
Dr. Kalla graduated from the University of Texas, School of Medicine in Houston, Texas with a BS degree in biology. He completed a transitional year program and two additional residency training programs in Internal Medicine at the same university before moving to Chattanooga.
Dr. Kalla completed his four years of residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Siskin Hospital including an additional year as Administrative Chief Resident.
As a staff physician at Siskin Hospital in 2001, Dr. Kalla was also an instructor with the Chattanooga Unit of the University of Tennessee, College of Medicine residency training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation based at Siskin Hospital.
Dr. Kalla is currently practicing at Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation.
Dr. Kalla is a member of the Tennessee Medical Association, the Chattanooga and Hamilton County Medical Society and the Association of Academic Physiatrists.
Dr. Jerry Smith
Admitting Physician
Dr. Smith is a graduate of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. He completed his medical degree from the University of Kentucky, School of Medicine in Lexington, KY. He interned at Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Ala. and his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at the Medical College of Virginia.
As a staff physician with Siskin Hospital until 2001, Dr. Smith served as the Program Director of Siskin Hospital's Stroke Program. He was also an assistant professor with the Chattanooga Unit of the University of Tennessee College of Medicine residency training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation based at Siskin Hospital.
Dr. Smith is currently practicing at Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation.
Dr. Smith is certified by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. He is also a certified acupuncturist through the UCLA acupuncture course.
Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is a member of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, American Medical Association, Tennessee Medical Association and the Chattanooga and Hamilton County Medical Society.
