Siskin Hospital Celebrates 20 Years of Caring People. Changing Lives.

"February 15, 2010 marks the official anniversary of the hospital and we are proud of the accomplishments of our caring staff, as well as the thousands of patients we have been privileged to serve throughout the past 20 years," Robert Main, President & CEO, states.
In 1990, Siskin Hospital opened its doors in Chattanooga as a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, and today there are 109 inpatient beds. Siskin Hospital provides a wide spectrum of services and is grateful for the opportunity to have served the greater Chattanooga community for the past 20 years. The staff looks forward to making a difference in the lives of families, neighbors and friends for many years to come.
Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation would not be possible without the hard work and determination of the employees who make it the successful venture that it is.
We asked our staff several questions about their experience as an employee of Siskin Hospital. Here are their responses!
Christina Yarbrough (Physical Therapy- 20 Years) I was introduced to Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation during my last clinical rotation as a student in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program, and that led to my interest in pursuing a career here. What I like most about working here is witnessing the progression and improvement in the patients' lives and being involved with their recovery. I was asked about the co-worker I admire most but cannot narrow it down to a single person. Every one of my co-workers in the PT department and throughout the hospital possess admirable qualities, and I have learned from each and every one of them.
Baret Avery (Director of Health and Information Services- 20 Years) Siskin Hospital is a special place because of the wonderful people who work here, and what we do for the patients who need the care and compassion I see exhibited here every day. This is the reason I have been here for twenty years. We have been through good times, bad times, happy times and sad ones, and we go on together. What makes us different from other places is the people here, and that is what makes me happy to work here- my fellow employees.
Audrey Cunningham (Nursing) Truly, Siskin Hospital is a remarkable place with a remarkable staff. That statement alone says why Siskin Hospital is the first choice. The care that is given by the nursing staff, the meals that are prepared with love and the P.T. Boot Camp Team say it all...hard work and work hard. Siskin Hospital truly gives range of motions that work.
Debby Barker (Human Resources) The environment is what I like best, helping, caring, great employees to work with- for the most part, this is a nurturing environment for patients, families, visitors, volunteers and staff, including our doctors. The quality of patient care makes us the first choice.
Darlene Jenkins (Community Re-Entry) Having worked here for almost 13 years, I think the one thing that has always remained constant is the DEDICATION and CARING ATTITUDES of the therapists. Since I now attend patient staffings, this has become even more obvious! Thanks to all of the therapists- physical, occupational, speech- inpatient and outpatient!
