Caring People. Changing Lives.®
In Chattanooga, physical rehabilitation is synonymous with two philanthropic brothers, Mose and Garrison Siskin, who experienced tragedy in their lives and knew physical rehabilitation firsthand. The brothers dreamed of building the finest physical rehabilitation hospital but passed away before seeing their dream fulfilled.
In 1986, a separate corporation was established by the Siskin Memorial Foundation to develop a rehabilitation hospital. In February 1990, Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation officially opened as an inpatient and outpatient facility in its present location behind Erlanger Medical Center. Today it is Tennessee’s largest acute rehabilitation hospital, and is one of a handful of freestanding, independent, not-for-profit rehabilitation hospitals in the nation.
Siskin Hospital opened its doors in Chattanooga with 50 inpatient rehabilitation beds; today there are 196 total beds. Siskin Hospital provides a wide spectrum of services in our inpatient, outpatient and fitness center programs. Charity care lies at the heart of Siskin Hospital, providing rehabilitation care to those who do not have insurance or adequate funding.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to have served the greater Chattanooga community for 35 years, and look forward to making a difference in the lives of families, neighbors and friends for many years to come.
