Clinical Application Analyst II

As a Clinical Application Analyst II, you will be responsible for the ongoing design, build, testing, validation, optimization, and support of mission-critical applications including EHR/ EMR /EDR and other applications. You will apply your knowledge of clinical processes and informatics to assist in the design, development, and ongoing modification of computerized healthcare systems. You will educate staff in how to use assigned applications and assist in problem-solving to promote implementation and optimization. This individual works with customers to elicit requirements through a variety of techniques, validates requirement information with customers to ensure completeness, correctness, and clarity, while ensuring the developed solution satisfies the stated requirements.
The successful candidate will configure, design, develop, or modify applications via vendor tools or augmented tools developed within Siskin Hospital for Physical Rehabilitation and can validate data integrity of changes introduced; Support software programs or modules across multiple clinical and/or business functions. The Clinical Application Analyst II understands the business environment and the impact IT can have on the business environment. They provide analysis and support for installed systems as well as system implementation and integration projects that require systems analysis, design, testing, and implementation for specific modules or applications; resolves application issues and responds to user requested application changes, improvements, and enhancements. The CAA II determines scope, size of effort, and impact of requested change.
This person will manage small- to mid-sized projects and contribute to software testing activities.
Responsibilities:
Act as the subject matter expert for all aspects (functionality, usage, configuration) of the EHR and other assigned applications
Assist with end-user help desk, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
Responsible for conducting one-on-one training and/or group training
Participate in the design and implementation of any new system or upgrade, provide continuing support after implementation
Analyze and interpret patient, clinical, or information systems data to improve patient services
Analyze computer and information technologies to determine applicability to clinical practice, education, and administration
Monitor, maintain and support all interfaces within the EHR (including HL7)
Apply knowledge of computer science, information science, clinicals (e.g., nursing, therapy, clinician, etc.), and informatics theory to clinical practice, education, administration, or research, in collaboration with departmental subject matter experts
Supports software programs or modules across multiple clinical and/or business functions. Understands the business environment and the impact IT can have on the business environment. Provides analysis and support for installed systems as well as system implementation, optimization, and integration projects that require systems analysis, design, testing and implementation for specific modules or applications.
Develop, implement, or evaluate IS applications, tools, processes, or structures to assist clinicians with data management
Develop or deliver training programs for Information Systems (IS), creating operating manuals as needed
Research requests to determine scope, size and impact. Works with customers to elicit requirements through a variety of techniques. Validates requirement information with customers to ensure completeness, correctness, and clarity. Validates the developed solution to ensure it satisfies the stated requirements.
Develop or implement policies or practices to ensure the privacy, confidentiality, or security of patient information
Develop strategies, policies, or procedures for introducing, evaluating, or modifying information technology applied to clinical practice, administration, or education.
Identify, collect, record, or analyze data that are relevant to the care of patients
Demonstrates professionalism by articulating and demonstrating professional behavior, accepting responsibility/accountability for actions, adhering to departmental/ hospital policies and procedures
Performs other duties as assigned.
Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call rotation
Required Qualifications:
Licensed clinician with strong patient care experience in a hospital setting.
Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and various other hospital staff.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing with all levels of associates and management.
Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare applications.
Problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to perform analytical processes.
Ability to evaluate end user needs against current system capabilities.
Ability to interact with end-users and demonstrate advanced critical thinking and follow-through skills when developing solutions to identified issues.
Ability to translate business requirements accurately and effectively into system design/build specifications.
Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Windows products (Word, Excel, Access, and Project) or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Electronic Medical Record support experience.
Familiarity with the software development cycle.
Understanding of relational databases and client-server concepts.
